Proposal Presentation

Overall comment:
— Think on how to approach the publication visually (Experimental book design)

Joanne’s comments:
— Breakthrough cultural barriers:
— Good experimentation on how to come into one singular language (Finding common ground)
— Not sure where movies come in (As a common ground)
— Movie selected become important (Choice of movies need to be specific) — Use your own data instead (e.g Voice= use your own voice; Text= Use your own type)

Andre’s comments:
— Agreed with Joanne's comment on the movie ideas.
— Try bringing your own experience into the culture.
— The way images are treated doesn’t reveal too much = gets eaten up by the image process.
— Experimentation is good = Good potential on how to process the experimentation.
— Images: Try different blend mode effects of visual experiment for the images.

Final Presentation

Joanne’s comments:
— Similar to the last presentation, execution was similar = trying to find a standardised way to show things.
— The layering effect looks more interesting when curved compared to when its straight (Poster vs. Video).
— Poster looks cryptic, which is good.
— Representation of the safe keeping of barriers is ironic but interesting.
— Concept has a lot of potential (Political, language, etc.)
— Can look into how much of each do we want to mix and how much we want to retain.
— Like that it’s cryptic.
— Try being intentional with what you are trying to say = Maybe language is a construct/ language is just nonsense.
— E.g. Language is something that creatures create for themselves.
— Being deliberate with what you’re doing is important.

Vikas’s comments:
— Bits in a project that starts from something that’s logical to nonsensical.
— Colours reminded of military generals rankings.
— Lots of mashup going up (But geographies are not mashed up, wished they were.)
— Maybe we can try mashing up the geographies.
— Try looking at things across languages, e.g. homophones and homonyms.
— Try going from something sensible to nonsense back to something more fun.
